French Briquet Sword with Scabbard, 28 Rib Grip, Sword 29 1/2in

From the estate of a Korean/ Viet Nam veteran US Navy pilot who collected many items of Militaria, here is an old French Briquet sword with scabbard! Definitiely a vintage piece, I was advised that the sword could have originated from several countries including France, Russia, India, Spain, Germany, Belgium, etc.

The entire length of the sword is 29 1/2 inches while the blade is approximately 24 3/8 inches! I did not observe any markings on the blade, on the handle, or on the scabbard and was reminded that while many have markings, some swords have been found unmarked. The brass on the scabbard and handle have patina. The sword has substantive weight and is indeed a well-made weapon!
