This listing is for one custom brass and steel sword, reconstructed in the USA. The India sword was more decorative than functional, with the blade pinned in at the hilt, and at the first inch of the grip. When installing the new blade, I ignored the original pin hole positions, and placed three steel pins in stronger positions down the length of the grip. The blade has a curved 3/4" wide and 1/4" thick hidden tang that goes all the way down the handle, and was hot riveted with three steel pins. All pins drew tight while cooling and are not loose.

The pins have been filed down to match the handle ribbing. The original pin holes were filled with brass bar stock, tinned, and are not noticeable on the hilt, but are somewhat noticeable at the top of the grip. The blade was fitted tightly into a hilt channel, but has also been tinned at the hilt to prevent rattles. The blade edge is dull but beveled, and can be sharpened. I have no information about how the blade was forged or treated, but edge heat treating with a flame would be easy if it becomes dull quickly. I don't have a proper space to quench a blade. When cutting the blade material to fit the grip, the steel was very hard and required a long cut time. The tang heated very slowly, and was gently curved to fit neatly within the grip. The blade angle is not perfectly centered with the quillions, as the balance was way off with the blade perfectly centered with the quillions.

It was rotated 1/4 to make the sword easier to hold, aligning the blade with the grip. The brass and steel have heavy patina applied, and some heavier discolor from storage, but can be polished with some work. The brass and blade were both chemical darkened, and oiled, and put into storage. The patina became very rough dark black in storage.

The patina was beaten back some with steel wool, and wax. Again, the base is solid material that can easily shine if you want. If you've ever held a Civil War foot artillery sword, this has a similar solid feel, nice weight, 3.6lbs. What you see is what you get, a new custom sword made with old parts.
