Hide Buckler / Shield from Baluchistan. Rare and unusual Buckler (Hand Shield) from Baluchistan, the homeland of the Baluchi people in West Pakistan. It is 28cm in diameter. The outer surface is heavily decorated with engraved brass ornament and with 3 tall brass bosses (one missing), holding the rear handle rings and a leather hand (with damage) cushion on the rear side.

The shield shows the hide and its age and patina. Baluchistan is in what is now west Pakistan. It is mostly a dry, desert region. The main ethnic groups are the Baloch people and the Pashtuns, who comprise more than 80% of the population, and are mostly Sunni Muslims.
